Wallaroo Rail Reserve

The masterplan for the brown fields site focuses on creating a beautiful, meaningful and functional reserve that celebrates the site’s unique history.

The landscape aesthetic of the reserve is dramatised by the preservation and reinterpretation of the industrial artefacts and relicts of the former rail yard.
The open space design addresses opportunity for both the community and visitors to discover new layers of interpretation and occupation. A memorial walk along one of the reserves is created in memory of fallen soldiers. Norfolk Island pines are used as a symbolic reflection of strength and comradery between soldiers.
