Golden Grove High School

To support the state-wide shift of Year 7 students to high school, two new education and performing arts buildings have been constructed at Golden Grove High School. In collaboration with lead architects Brown Falconer, outdoor courtyards that provide diverse outdoor learning, congregation and performance opportunities have been designed to complement the new and existing built form.

The senior courtyard utilises an existing embankment to provide a large timber amphitheater and lawn space which includes new shade trees and native garden beds. This will be supplemented with an outdoor table tennis table and picnic benches for the students to utilise at break times.
Between the two new buildings is the junior outdoor space which includes a large central tiered timber amphitheater. This structure provides seating facing either north or south which provides opportunities for multiple functions. Adjacent the northern face is a large lawn space and a raised timber stage, providing opportunity for students to put together outdoor performances. The end of the raised seating blends into the lawn with a lawn mound taking students down to the lower level.
