WAX Design is excited to announce that our organisation is Climate Active carbon neutral certified!
As Landscape Architects, sustainability and environmental impact are important for us and our projects. We are committed to reducing our impact and Climate Active carbon neutral certification is one of the ways we are demonstrating our commitment.
WAX Design is now a part of the Climate Active Network – Australia’s collective initiative for climate action. The Australian Government’s carbon neutral certification is the most rigorous and credible carbon neutral certification available.
Our business has made conscious choices and effectively changed the way we operate to ensure our carbon emissions are as low as possible. To achieve a net zero outcome and offset the remainder of our annual emissions, we are proud to have invested in the Nyaliga Fire Project.
The Nyaliga Fire Project reduces carbon emissions through indigenous fire management practices, based in the East Kimberley of Western Australia. Registered in 2017 as a savanna burning carbon project covering 640,000 hectares of exclusive possession Wilinggin native title land, it has shifted the fire regime from late dry-season hot fires to smaller, regular fires earlier in the season. As a result these fire management practices have limited late season wildfires and reduced the total fire of the project area, by over one third.
This project not only has significant climate benefits, it has positive environmental, social, cultural and economic outcomes while also supporting Traditional Owners, and their future generations.
