Celebrating play

Last week we had the pleasure of sharing in the celebrations for the opening of the Pembroke School Junior Playspace, Mukamukarrinthi-ngka. The Kaurna name means celebrate/playspace and was developed by the ELC, Reception and Year 1 students.

Hosted by Principal Luke Thomson, the event was attended by staff, junior school students, old scholar and Deputy Premier the Hon Vickie Chapman MP, with a welcome to country and smoking ceremony by Uncle Mickey O’Brien. The incredible cake with playspace icing model was made by Heidelberg Cakes.

The new playspace has been transformed to incorporate a variety of bespoke nature play experiences and enables students to be active, challenged and connected to nature.

We look forward to seeing the students enjoy their new playspace!
