Margaret Ives Child Care Centre

Modification to the site boundaries and protection of significant trees were the catalyst for a playspace upgrade for the child care centre, and this opportunity provided a moment to create the nature play opportunities desired by the staff and parents.

The existing sand pit and shade structure were retained and the space completely reinvigorated with a central amphitheatre space, surrounded by nature based play, exploration and learning opportunities for the children.

An all abilities circulation track connects the different nodes of play, including a challenging climbing mound and cubby experience, new swings, productive garden, rock lined swale and dirt digging patch, art integration, the existing sand pit and shade structure and pockets of landscaped gardens for quiet reflection.
