St Joseph’s School Tranmere Learning Street
Our continued collaboration with Grieve Gillett Architects sees the successful delivery of the next phase of the school masterplan, with new GLA’s and an upgrade to the existing junior school GLA buildings.
A pedestrian connective spine through the centre of the school is reinforced through a colourful arbour structure softened with climbing vines, which provides morning shade and a sense of arrival to the new building entry. The tesselated brick building facade is separated from the pedestrian walkway with flowering garden beds and a series of brick seating walls, reflecting the materiality of the built form and providing opportunities for student socialisation.
The northern classrooms connect directly to the turfed open space and informal ball sports lawn beyond. Separation and protection of the outdoor classrooms from the active play adjacent is created through the use of a sinuous steel screen which dances along the edge of the lawn, through garden beds with deciduous climbers and a series of brick seating walls.
