Conquering the Peaks Challenge

After nearly a year of preparation, WAX team members Warwick & Corey recently conquered the Peaks Challenge in Victoria. 235km of cycling and 4400+ metres of climbing with a 13 hour cut off time! With the region still recovering from the devastating bush fires in January, Corey and Warwick wanted to show their support to the local communities of the Victorian High Country.

Starting the morning in freezing temperatures, rain and dense fog, the race begun in Falls Creek before tackling Tawonga Gap, the 1,303m elevation of Mount Hotham through the fire affected countryside around Omeo before heading up the back of Falls Creek, climbing for 10 kilometres at an average gradient of 10%.

With nearly one third of riders not making it through the day, both Warwick and Corey completed the event under the 13 hour cut off. Exhausted, thrilled and another experience ticked off the bucket list!
