Port Lincoln Foreshore

The redevelopment of the Port Lincoln Foreshore has transformed Tasman Terrace into a vibrant waterfront destination. The foreshore brings together recreation areas, playspaces, public realm activation, and an upgrade of the jetty.

WAX Design with Tonkin, developed detailed designs that built on the existing character of the foreshore. New open spaces were developed as coastal gardens, while wombat crossings, plazas, and footpaths reinforced access, encouraging people to walk, congregate and linger longer.
The existing toilets were re-imagined with cladding, improved amenities and an integrated viewing amphitheatre. At the same time, the car park was modified to create a shared-use zone that enables temporary closures for markets and other events.

A regional playspace has become a significant draw card. Elevated play pods, rope climbs, slides, rock scrambles and water play provide various play opportunities. While basket swings and wheelchair accessible trampolines demonstrate the inclusive design of the playspace. Separate from the playspace, a new basketball half-court, netball ring and skateable plaza create an active recreation and youth precinct.

Upgrades to the Parnkalla Trail improve access and provide opportunities to express the Barngarla People’s Connection to Country. A large laser-cut panel by Barngarla artists Jenna and Vera Richards depicts the rich culture and stories of the area.
