Prospect Road Regeneration

Conceived initially as a town square project for Kilburn and Blair Athol, an absence of land led the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to explore a series of placemaking activations along Prospect Road.

WAX worked collaboratively with the Council, community members, business owners and other stakeholders to design new public spaces that will reduce the impact of vehicles and increase places for people in the area.

Drawing on the rich culture of recent migrants from around the world, we have created a series of conceptual rugs and carpets at each intersection using new paving, street furniture and garden beds to create a sense of welcome for the community.

Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec, the project engineers, have ensured the project has met the highest engineering and traffic management standards enabling the project team to deliver increased public space for people. The involvement of Guildhouse and artist Sam Songailo has resulted in the paving patterns and street lighting becoming works of art, strengthening the concept of the carpet across the project. LCS Landscapes has worked closely with Council’s project manager to deliver the conceptual values of the project. The care and skill shown by LCS and Anyscape paving contractors have ensured that the complex patterns of the paved carpets artworks have been realised.
