Stradbroke School

The Walker Learning Principles of play and inquiry based pedagogy along with extensive student and educator lead consultation processes formed the basis of the design approach for this Early Learning Hub, designed alongside DAS Studio.

Set along the embankment edge of Fourth Creek and surrounding established Eucalypts, creative and immersive play opportunities including water, mud and sand assist inquiring young minds to explore and investigate their natural environment.

Connection between internal and external learning environments is facilitated through integrated terraced amphitheatres, rock and log seating nooks and playful landscaped mounds connecting internal views to the living  greenery beyond.

Risk benefit play and physical challenge is provided though rope climbing, slides, spinning nets and in ground trampolines. A feature elevated fort with a bridge that spans the central path creates elevated play opportunities and further connects students to the surrounding tree canopy beyond.
