Yitpi Yartapuultiku, the soul of Port Adelaide
Yesterday afternoon we attended the official naming ceremony of the Aboriginal Cultural Centre at Western Region Park, Port Adelaide.
We are delighted to be involved with the creation of ‘Yitpi Yartapuultiku’, a Kaurna name meaning the ‘Soul of Port Adelaide’.
Working with the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, the project group and local Elders, Yitpi Yartapuultiku will be an authentic place where people can gather, learn and immerse themselves in the local Aboriginal culture, share ideas and begin new conversations.
It will feature indoor and outdoor activity spaces, public amenities, office and meeting rooms, landscaping, artworks, entry statements, and the reclamation of engineered river embankments into a living shoreline with access to the water nearby.
We hope to share the draft concept design soon.
