St Monica’s Parish School

WAX relished the opportunity to expand on the initial school masterplan developed in conjunction with Grieve Gillett Architects and implement the first stage of the project.

A new multi-use sports court and ball wall supports the active and open space recreation desires of the students and engenders a pop of colour to the play environment. An avenue of new trees separates the nature and adventure play zone adjacent, and provides natural shade to a central spine of socialisation and congregation spaces. A gradient of play experiences enables students with a variety of choice and challenge, ranging from creative water and sand play, outdoor black board and balance logs, through to the elevated vantage point of the rope tower beyond.

Open space was at a premium for the school and an existing carpark to the west of the site was also redeveloped, introducing water sensitive urban design and a new kick-about lawn.
