Children’s Zoo

The landscape design of the Children’s Zoo at Adelaide Zoo involved intensive collaboration with the staff, keepers and the project team to develop custom animal and child experiences.

Connected to the popular Nature’s Playground, families enter the Children’s Zoo via new pathways and bespoke aerial walkways, designed to cater for all ages and abilities.

Developed in partnership with Variety SA, this space allows children to learn, play, and explore amongst goats, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits and quokkas as they move through a series of interactive enclosures.

The landscape design incorporates custom designed two storey overhead walkways, a seesaw and rock mound for the goats to enjoy, chicken swings, guinea pig hotels, climbing branches for the quokkas, a presentation area for the keepers to showcase the animals and much more.

The result is an exemplary open space for animals, adults and children to play and experience one another in new and wonderful ways.
