St Peters College Junior Playspace

Through collaboration with St Peter’s College Junior School, a series of bespoke play experiences that are inclusive and considerate of the multitude of interests and varying abilities of young boys was developed. It entices them to be active, challenged and connected to nature.

Opportunities for smaller group work and outdoor classroom creation are provided through new seating and congregation areas, which are nestled amongst the sand pit, water play and with corners for mindfulness and quiet moments. This blurring of the lines between play and learning is fundamental for children in early year’s education and increases opportunities for collaboration, creativity and problem solving.

A bespoke elevated timber platform provides opportunities for development of gross motor physical skills and coordination through active movement, with a rope balance bridge, rock wall and tunnel beneath, slippery dip and scramble net. Students can also collect and use loose parts, construct cubby houses or have adventures with endless possibilities in the carefully sculptured, multifaceted play environment.
