Maylands Residence
The front garden design is a gesture to the original ‘cottage’ garden, but with a hint of the contemporary due to the architectural extension at the rear of the home, designed in collaboration with Troppo Architects & Enoki Design. The existing palm tree has been retained, creating an impressive central feature which allows a curved bluestone entrance path to the front door. All opportunities to maximise usage of the space were explored, including a seating alcove and a shaded southern courtyard that can be accessed from the master bedroom.
The design of the rear garden focuses on entertaining & family. The outdoor dining, kitchen and deck area floats above the lawn below, with the feature Acacia tree creating a riot of yellow in spring. Continuous stone tiling to the pool façade with a water trough, provide an elegant solution to the elevated pool constructed by Elite Pools & Landscapes which is softened by the floating papyrus. The back of the rear garden also supports the family enthusiasm for a productive garden & orchard, complete with chickens.
